Dudley Smith Farm Project Field Day

U of I Extension to Host Dudley Smith Farm Project Field Day June 21 University of Illinois Extension Unit 18 will be hosting the Dudley Smith Farm Project Field Day on June 21 at the University of Illinois Dudley Smith Farm located off Route 29 between Taylorville and Pana, IL. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the program will conclude at 12:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend and to learn more about the valuable research taking place on the Dudley Smith Farm. Lunch will be provided for those who preregister.  The Dudley Smith Farm is located just off Route 29 between Taylorville and Pana, Illinois (2200 E. 550 North Rd.).
 
The program will feature U of I - College of ACES-Extension and Office of Research staff associated with Dudley Smith Initiatives. The audience will be informed of previous and current projects associated with the farm. The staff will host a producer panel dealing with livestock and cover crop experiences. Area livestock producers will share their own experiences and challenges of implementing current and evolving practices on their farms. Participants will also hear from Professors Cameron Pittelkow and Laura Christianson from the University of Illinois ACES Office of Research on upcoming research projects on the Dudley Smith farm. They will provide the audience with an update on the drainage monitoring systems recently installed at the farm to support research dealing with intensive corn production systems, nutrient loss and water quality.
 
 
The program is free, however participants are asked to register by Friday, June 16 to enjoy a meal provided by University of Illinois Extension Christian County and prepared by Save-A-Lot Foods Inc., Pana, IL.
