Champaign County Auditor Tony Fabri (FAB'-ree) used his office phone just 18 times in the last year, while other officials were making hundreds of calls.

Reviewed records show he last made a call from the office six months ago.

Other officials say Fabri rarely shows up for work. County board member Alan Nudo says Fabri is "absolutely stealing" from the taxpayers by not doing his job.

Fabri, a Democrat, says the phone records don't give the full picture of what he does. He said he is often performing his duties while not at the office.

He didn't explain his absences or scarce use of the office phone.
