A 31-year-old Peoria man could be sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty of shooting another man to death in 2009.

David Brown was found guilty of murder Thursday in the death of Johnnie Whitehead of Peoria.

Brown's conviction carries a possible life sentence. He will be sentenced Sept. 8.

Whitehead was 35 years old when he was killed in his mother's apartment in December 2009.

Brown was shot in the arm and jaw by police after officers said he fired at them through a door.

Police say Brown and another man, 27-year-old Yohni Brown, were robbing Whitehead when he was shot. Yohni Brown pleaded guilty in March to armed robbery.

The Browns aren't related.
