Bloomington Representative Dan Brady is defending the budget signed by Governor Pat Quinn. He says no matter what agreement the governor made with AFSCME, the fact remains that the 77-million dollars needed for pay raises was not appropriated in the budget.

Brady says Democrat and Republican members of the House worked together to pass a responsible budget. He says the process that lawmakers took this year was a step in the right direction toward reducing the state's debt. Unfortunately, he says, drastic cuts sometimes come with the territory.
