IVCC Volleyball Star Killed In Florida

A star on the Illinois Valley Community College Lady Eagles basketball team is dead.  Shannon Washington was murdered in Florida over the weekend.  She had finished two years with IVCC and earned a scholarship to play for Florida's A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida.  Barely two weeks into the new school year, police say Washington and a friend got into an argument Sunday morning. Washington was stabbed and died at a hospital.  Twenty-year-old Starquinesha Palmer is charged with murder.  A vigil was held at A&M in Tallahassee Sunday.  A memorial is being planned at IVCC in Oglesby and counselors will be available to students.
