Lincoln Sales Tax Increases

A local community has seen their taxes raised as of January 1 of this year.

The Lincoln community increased their sales tax from 7.5% to 8.5% effective January first. The tax includes items such as candy, soda, clothing, alcohol, cigarettes, paper products, amongst other things.

The money generated by the sales tax will be divided among county school districts according to their enrollment. The revenue can be used to pay off building bonds and for maintenance items such as roof repairs, heating and cooling systems and security doors.
