Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Friday, January 27, revealed that a vehicle driven by David Holden, 32, Decatur, was traveling north on US Highway 51 at County Highway 11 when he felt the back of the truck begin to drift. The truck spun causing it to strike a road sign. The truck then drifted back east across the highway before coming to a stop on the east shoulder in the grass. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, revealed that a vehicle driven by Sandra Goodman, 63, Bement, was traveling northbound on IL Rt 48. As the vehicle approached the intersection of IL Rt 48 and IL Rt 54 Goodman stopped at the intersection and proceeded. When she proceeded, she went off the road into the northeast corner of the intersection. Goodman then continued northeast still off the roadway, crossed both rails of the train tracks, and drove approximately 40 yards on the shoulder of the railway. The driver was evaluated and stabilized and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

 

Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, revealed that a vehicle driven by Justin Blake, 17, Clinton, was stopped in a handicapped spot at Valley Mill Access when Conservation Officer Heusner pulled up behind him and approached the vehicle. Heusner asked Blake to step out of the vehicle. When Blake took his foot off of the brake and stepped out. The vehicle was in reverse and hit Heusner’s vehicle. Blake’s vehicle was towed from the scene. Blake was issued citations for Operating Uninsured Vehicle, Fail To Notify SOS Of Address Change, Unauthorized Use Of Parking Reserved For Persons With Disabilities, Improper Backing, Use Of Unsafe Tires, Failure To Secure New Registration, and Expired Registration. Blake posted the necessary bond and was released.

 

Thomas Nease, 64, Effingham, was issued a citation for Speeding (74 mph in a 55 mph zone). Nease posted his IL Drivers license as bond and was released.

 

Kalob Followell, 18, DeWitt, was issued a citation for Speeding (71 mph in a 55 mph zone). Followell was issued a notice to appear and was released.

 

Tabitha Martin, 29, Farmer City, was issued a citation for Operating Uninsured Vehicle. Martin posted her IL Drivers license as bond and was released.

 

Christina Coit, 43, DeWitt, was issued a citation for Operating Uninsured Vehicle. Coit posted her IL Drivers license as bond and was released.

 

Jesus Rodriguez, 42, Clinton, was issued citations for Leaving The Scene Of An Accident-Vehicle Damage and Failure To Report To Police Authority. Rodriguez posted his IL Drivers license as bond and was released.

 

Emmanuel Lopez Contreras, 25, Clinton, was issued citations for Failure To Report To Police Authority, Failure To Reduce Speed/Accident, Leaving The Scene Of An Accident and No Valid Driver’s License. Lopez Contreras was issued a notice to appear and was released.

 

Shawn Sampson, 37, Lincoln, was issued citations for Failed To Yield To Authorized Emergency Vehicle and Driving Too Fast For Conditions.

 

ALL SUSPECTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL FOUND GUILTY IN A COURT OF LAW.
