Maroa Schools Winter Projects Progressing

If you've driven by the Maroa-Forsyth schools campus in Maroa recently, you probably noticed some construction equipment.

width=The district is currently having an all purpose track installed around their football field. At the same time, they are also installing turf on to their football field. Superintendent of Maroa-Forsyth Schools Mike Williams explains that project is ahead of schedule thanks to the mild winter we have experienced thus far, and it should be complete by mid-spring.

The all weather track is something of a standard feature to several central Illinois athletic facilities. Williams says the field turf will allow the district to host soccer games now, which they have not been able to do in the past. Maroa coops with Warrensburg. He feels it gives the district a lot of options now for their athletics.

width=This is the first phase of what is a 10-year facility plan for the district. A couple other small projects in this first phase is include upgrading their H-Vac system at the high school to make them more energy efficient. They also want to add on to the grade school playground, and a new marquee to the front of the high school.
