After competing with the top team in the conference for the conference tournament championship Saturday night, the Monticello Sages had an opportunity to avenge a tough loss. Instead, the Sages came out with little energy and were barely competitive beyond the second quarter in what was an 81-61 final Tuesday night at the Rocket Center at Unity High School. The Sages were led by the 18 points of Kendall King and Nick Stokowski. Stokowski recorded another double-double with 14 rebounds. There were a combined 47 fouls and 57 free throws shot Tuesday night. The Sages were 17-23 from the charity stripe while Unity was 28-34. The Sages shot 30% (21-70) from the floor while Unity shot 57%.
The JV team lost in overtime to Unity 49-46.
The Sages have now lost two in a row, both at the hands of Unity and are now 12-11 and 5-3 in the Okaw Valley. They play host to Decatur St. Teresa High School Friday.
