Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is pushing to state to create a registry of guns.  In a statement, Emanuel says registering guns will help keep people safe and would be similar to how people register their cars.  The statewide registry would require handgun owners to contact police if they were selling their gun or if it was lost or stolen.  It would also require sellers to report handgun sales and transfers.  Chicago requires all handgun owners to register their guns with the Chicago Police Department.
