Sangamon Voter Turnout Average; McLean Slow

About 180 people have cast an early ballot for Illinois' primary election in Sangamon County.  About 31 of those came in today.  Sangamon County Director of Elections Stacey Kern says things will likely get busier from this point forward.

McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael says they had a slow turnout for the first day of voting.

Michael says getting 20 votes is actually higher than they expected.  She says it's normal to have a low turnout during the early voting season, but voters will show up in much larger numbers during the November general election.  The McLean County numbers do not include the city of Bloomington.  Voters who will not be in town for the primary on March 20th, or who just want to skip the lines that day, can cast an early ballot between now and March 15th.
