University of Illinois President Likely To Address Faculty

A University of Illinois spokesman says President Michael Hogan likely will accept an invitation from faculty leaders to speak following a letter in which many call for his resignation.

Spokesman Tom Hardy said Tuesday that he expects Hogan will accept the invitation depending on scheduling options.

Faculty Senate Vice Chairwoman Joyce Tolliver said staff members were trying to work out dates.

The letter called on Hogan to resign over recent conflicts with faculty over enrollment management and other issues. They criticized his leadership.

University trustees Chairman Christopher Kennedy wrote faculty Monday, saying he supports Hogan.

Hogan was hired in 2010 after predecessor B. Joseph White resigned during an admissions scandal.
