Maroons Sweep Saturday Twin Bill

The Clinton Maroons hosted their annual Clinton Tournament this past weekend and took two games, first from Decatur Lutheran, then from Okaw Valley foe Shelbyville.

In game one, the Maroons used an 8-run seventh inning to storm back and win 8-7. Josh Merrick and Greg Osgood combined on the victory for the Maroons. Osgood picked up the win in two innings of relief Merrick went five innings giving up four runs, but just one earned run while striking out nine. Osgood went three innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out two. At the plate the Maroons were led by Osgood, Nate Ennis and Zach Pate, each recording a pair of hits.

In game two, the Maroons used a two run sixth inning to take a two run advantage and held on in the top of the seventh for a 9-8 win. Marshall Sprague went the distance on the mound for the Maroons. He walked ten batters, gave up seven hits and struck out ten as well. Sprague had a pair of hits at the plate as well. Logan Woolridge was 1-2 with an RBI double and Anthony Merrick had a pair of hits.

Clinton is 8 -5 on the season.
