Clinton Wins Slugfest In OVC Opener

The Clinton Maroons won in a slugfest with the Central A & M Raiders, 20-10, Tuesday afternoon at Clinton High School. It was the Okaw Valley Conference opener for the Maroons, who Maroons scored in every inning except the first inning in what was a regulation, seven inning game. Kyle Birk went the distance on the mound for the Maroons, surrendering 10 runs, nine earned, on 14 hits with three strikeouts and two walks. It was a good day offensively for Maroon hitters, Nat Ennis, Zach Pate, Birk and Colten Reeves all recorded three hits. Greg Osgood and Josh Merrick each recorded two hits, including a double. Osgood, Birk, and Reeves each recorded three RBIs. Ennis and Merrick recorded two RBIs apiece.

Clinton is 9-6 overall and 1-0 in Okaw Valley Conference play.
