Autopsy Shows Multiple Gunshots Killed Decatur Couple

An autopsy report shows a Decatur husband and wife both died from multiple gunshot wounds.

34-year-old Freedom Cunningham and 26-year-old Central Cunningham suffered numerous injuries. Macon County Coroner Michael Day says the murders were "very brutal, very tragic." The coroner says the autopsy took longer than usual because of the "complexity and severity" of the Cunninghams' injuries.

The Cunningham were killed Saturday. The coroner found Freedom Cunningham was shot in the head, back, chest, left arm, left thigh and both lower legs. Central Cunningham was shot in the chest, abdomen and both arms.

Decatur police detectives are investigating and asking the public for information about the murders.
