Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal is calling for the federal government to take immediate steps to reduce the soaring cost of gasoline. Visiting a gas station in Manchester, Connecticut Thursday, Blumenthal says the rising prices of gasoline threatens retailers, economic recovery and consumer quality of life. Blumenthal is calling for a ban of exports of oil drilled on federal land, a crackdown on oil speculation, and an end of subsidies to big oil. Michael Fox with the Gasoline and Automotive Service Dealers of America projects that gas will soar well over five-dollars a gallon this summer.
