Zimmerman says there are many other benefits to driving the Chevy Volt, including the fact that drivers will only need to get oil changes every three years as opposed to every three to five thousand miles.  And when it comes to gas savings, drivers who stay under about 38 miles a day can travel strictly on battery but it also takes gas and gets about 380 miles to the tank.  The Volt gets about 65 miles to the gallon equivalent to a regular gasoline vehicle.  Illinois drivers who purchase an electric vehicle can get about 11-hundred dollars in tax breaks.
