Baseball Notes

Baltimore trailed the White Sox by three heading into the eighth inning but forced extra innings to defeat Chicago, 10-4, in 10 frames.  Matt Wieters hit a solo homer and added a grand slam in the 10th inning for the Orioles.  Nolan Reimold and Adam Jones each went yard in the ninth off Hector Santiago, who blew the save.  Zach Stewart allowed six runs, only one earned, and took the loss for the Sox.  Pedro Strop threw two scoreless innings and struck out three to pick up the win out of the bullpen for the Birds, who have won three-of-four after a three-game skid.  A.J. Pierzynski went 3-for-3 with a solo homer for Chicago, which has dropped back-to-back games on the heels of a four-game winning streak.

(St. Louis, MO)  --  The Cardinals host the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium tonight.  St. Louis sends Kyle Lohse to the bump opposite Johnny Cueto in the opener of the three-game set.  The Cards won two-of-three against the Cubs over the weekend to move to 7-and-3 on the season.

(Miami, FL)  --  The Chicago Cubs open up a three-game series against the Marlins this evening in Miami.  Ryan Dempster will go up against Josh Johnson in the opener.  The Northsiders dropped two-of-three at St. Louis over the weekend to fall to 3-and-7 on the season.
