Cards Walk Off On Reds; Sox, Cubs Lose

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Matt Carpenter's pinch-hit 10th-inning sacrifice-fly lifted the Cardinals to a 2-1 win over the Reds.  Carlos Beltran was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two walks for St. Louis, which has won three straight.  Kyle Lohse tossed seven innings of four-hit ball while striking out six in a no-decision.  Jason Motte earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief work.  Zack Cozart hit an RBI single in the eighth to tie the game for Cincinnati, which has lost four-of-five.  Sam LeCure suffered the loss for the Reds after Bill Bray allowed his inherited runner to score.

(Miami, FL)  --  Hanley Ramirez clubbed a tie-breaking three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Marlins in a 5-2 win over the Cubs in manager Ozzie Guillen's return from a five-game suspension.  Guillen was suspended for controversial comments he made to "Time" magazine about Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.  Emilio Bonifacio knocked in a run and Gaby Sanchez scored on an error for the Fish, who have won back-to-back games.  Josh Johnson tossed seven innings of two-run ball, but it was Steve Cishek who was credited with the win.  Heath Bell notched his first save.  Alfonso Soriano and Bryan LaHair each plated a run for Chicago in a losing effort.  Ryan Dempster fanned eight and gave up two unearned runs through six innings in a no-decision.  Rafael Dolis was saddled with the loss for the Northsiders, who have dropped three games in-a-row.

(Chicago, IL)  --  Jim Johnson survived a scary ninth inning as the Orioles held off the White Sox, 3-2.  Johnson recorded his fifth save of the year despite loading the bases before the final out.  Wei-Yin Chen went five-and-a-third innings and allowed two runs to pick up his first career win.  Nolan Reimold connected on a two-run homer and J.J. Hardy followed his blast with a solo shot of his own for Baltimore, which has won four of its last five games.  John Danks gave up three runs over seven frames to take the loss for Chicago.  A.J. Pierzynski was 2-for-4 with a two-run double for the Sox, who have dropped three straight.
