Abe Lincoln Tourism Bureau Celebrating 25th Anniversary at Annual Breakfast

Friday morning is an annual event for the Logan County Tourism Bureau.

Their annual breakfast banquet is this coming Friday morning and there is a lot of excitement surrounding this year's event because they will be celebrating their 25th anniversary. Executive Director at the Abe Lincoln Tourism Bureau, Geoff Ladd, explains retiring Senator Larry Bomke will be on hand to share a few words with those in attendance. Ladd notes Sen. Bomke has been very supportive of tourism in Logan County throughout his many years of service.

The Abe Lincoln Tourism Bureau has been a certified Tourism Bureau through the state of Illinois since the state handed out certifications 25 years ago. Ladd points out there is a grant that is given out as a part of the certification program, and to also be eligible for the grant, funds have to be matched from a county level which they have been able to maintain. He also adds the funds do come locally, but not from the local tax payers, but rather through the local hotel tax.

The morning kicks off with a buffet breakfast and some local entertainment will be provided during the course of the meal. Ladd says the morning is wrapped up with an awards presentation to those who have made notable contributions to tourism in Logan County over the past 25 years.
