Cubs, Sox Win; Cards Fall

>>Garza, Cubs Cruise Over Phillies

(Philadelphia, PA)  --  Starlin Castro drove in two runs and Matt Garza was nearly flawless on the mound over seven innings as the Cubs beat the Phillies, 5-1.  Garza gave up a single to the first batter he faced and didn't allow another base runner until issuing a one-out walk in the seventh.  The right-hander recorded 10 strikeouts, including the 800th of his career, to improve to 2-and-1 on the season.  Joe Mather had a solo shot for the Northsiders, who have taken two-of-three in the four-game set.  Ty Wigginton's bases-loaded walk in the ninth accounted for Philadelphia's only run.  Kyle Kendrick gave up three runs, two earned, through six innings of duty to absorb the loss for the Phillies, who have dropped five of their last eight games.

(Chicago, IL)  --  Adam Dunn blasted a two-run home run as the White Sox dropped the Red Sox, 4-1.  Gavin Floyd took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and finished allowing one run over six-and-two-thirds frames with nine strikeouts for the win.  Matt Thornton notched his first save of the season for Chicago, which salvaged the final game of the four-game series.  Cody Ross knocked in the lone run for Boston, which failed to win its seventh straight game.  Josh Beckett took the loss, yielding three runs in six-and-two-thirds innings with eight strikeouts.

>>Brewers Clip Cardinals

(St. Louis, MO)  --  Jonathan Lucroy drove in two runs as the Brewers downed the Cardinals, 3-2.  Aramis Ramirez added a run scored and knocked in for Milwaukee, which snapped a three-game slide.  Zack Greinke gave up one run over six innings for the win.  John Axford recorded his fifth save of the year.  Jaime Garcia allowed three runs in seven frames for the loss.  Rafael Furcal finished with a pair of hits and a run driven in for St. Louis, which saw a three-game win streak come to an end.

>>Crain Lands On DL

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Chicago White Sox have placed right-handed reliever Jesse Crain on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.  The 30-year-old Crain, who hasn't registered a decision while posting a 2.57 ERA over seven innings in six appearances this season, had successfully recovered from a strained right oblique during spring training.  His most recent oblique injury came during a routine workout.  Right-handed pitcher Dylan Axelrod was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte to take his place in the bullpen.
