Former Governor Rod Blagojevich is likely seeing a bit of light at the end of his tunnel. John Marshall Law School Professor Ann Lousin [[ Lou-seen ]] says news that his predecessor, George Ryan, is getting another shot at an appeal, has probably put fire under Blagojevich's own plan to appeal.

The U.S. Supreme Court has asked the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago to reconsider Ryan's appeal. It's all based on a technicality that points back to The Honest Services Law. Appeals Court Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook says Ryan's case could've had a different outcome had he directly challenged the mail-fraud statute of the Honest Services Law, instead of claiming there were errors with the jury instructions. Ryan has about two years left on a six-and-a-half-year sentence. Blagojevich is just six weeks into his 14-year sentence.
