Part of the Clinton Water Department's increase in water rates was due to the rising cost of chemicals.
The Water Department believes they may have found a remedy to offset some of those rising costs. Commissioner of Public Property for the City of Clinton, John Wise explains they have sodium hydro-chloride, which goes into the water, in bulk.

Wise explains this could hold a lot of savings for the water department at a time when chemical costs continue to rise and the department is seeking ways to save money to offset some of that cost.

Wise worked with City Treasurer Clint Lichtenwalter to find the chemical. Wise says buying the chemical in bulk is a lot of where the cost savings comes in.
