Sox, Cards Win; Cubs Lose Late

>>White Sox Edge Tribe In 10 Innings

(Cleveland, OH)  --  Despite allowing three runs in the eighth to allow Cleveland to tie, the White Sox earned a 5-3 victory over the Indians in 10 innings.  Alex Rios tripled in a run and Alexei Ramirez added an RBI ground out in the 10th to help Chicago snap a three-game slide.  A.J. Pierzynski had two RBI.  Hector Santiago picked up the win and Addison Reed earned his second save.  Carlos Santana had a two-run single to tie the game in the eighth for the Tribe, who lost for just the second time in eight games.  Chris Perez suffered the loss out of Cleveland's bullpen.

>>Westbrook, Beltran Lead Cards Over D'Backs

(Phoenix, AZ)  --  Carlos Beltran blasted a two-run homer in the first and added a grand slam in the second to back seven scoreless innings from Jake Westbrook as the Cardinals cruised to a 6-1 win over the Diamondbacks.  Westbrook fanned eight and gave up just four hits and two walks to improve to 4-and-2 on the season.  The Cards have won three in-a-row.  Miguel Montero's RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning accounted for Arizona's lone run of the game.  Ian Kennedy struck out six through seven innings, but gave up all six runs on six hits to suffer the loss.  The Snakes have dropped six of their last seven games.

(Chicago, IL)  --  Dan Uggla's two-run single in the top of the eighth frame proved to be the difference as the Braves clipped the Cubs, 3-1.  Tyler Pastornicky added a sac-fly in the fifth for Atlanta, which has won four of its last five games.  Kris Medlen was credited with the win and Craig Kimbrel worked a 1-2-3 ninth to nail down his 10th save.  Alfonso Soriano's RBI double in the sixth accounted for Chicago's lone run of the game.  Ryan Dempster struck out seven through seven innings of one-run ball in a no-decision.  Kerry Wood was charged with the loss for the Cubs, who had won their last two games.
