Governor Quinn says civil unions are working very well in Illinois and now he’s putting his support behind gay marriage.

Three of Illinois' openly gay lawmakers sponsored a bill proposing gay marriage earlier this year but won’t move forward on it because of more pressing issues.  Quinn's public support on the issue comes after President Obama announced his own support on the matter.  President Obama is the first commander-in-chief to say publicly that he supports same-sex marriage.  Illinois is the only state in the Midwest that allows civil unions.
