The Clinton Fire Department responded to a fire at AREA Disposal Thursday night.

Around 10:30 pm firefighters responded to reports of smoke coming from AREA Disposal in Clinton. Upon arriving on scene, surface material had caught fire. Assistance was needed and Maroa, Wapella and Kenney Fire Departments assisted the Clinton Fire Department.

A total of five tankers and a pumper were on scene. Clinton Fire Chief Shawn Milton estimates the fire was about 100 feet by 150 feet in size.

Firefighters were on scene for about two hours.
