Scovill Zoo Readies For Busy Summer

The Scovill Zoo in Decatur is gearing up for its summer season.

Starting May 26, the Scovill Zoo will be expand its hours and be open from 10-7 every day with last admissions taken at 6. The summer hours will stay in affect until August 20.

Scovill Zoo is known for their free admission days, and the zoo will once again be offering free admission days every Thursday, starting June 7 to October 11. Assistant Zoo Director Ken Frye says that free admission days are a great opportunity for anyone who may be on a tight budget to enjoy the zoo at no charge.

The zoo also has a couple of new features that they are ready to unveil. The new features include a new entry way through the gift shop that leads people to the new wolf viewing area.

This summer if you're looking for something for those youngster to do, Scovill Zoo offers a number of activities for kids. Frye explains there are plenty of things for  kids ages 3 all the way up to teenagers. Frye notes there are volunteer opportunities the zoo offers that allow teens to go out and handle the animals.

The zoo is offering many other events throughout the summer including a Family Camp Out and Father's Day event.
