According to Sheriff Shofner, he says the Sheriff's Department has seen the need several times for the use of a Humvee-like vehicle. He feels the Humvees will be a very versatile piece of equipment that will help in several ways.

The Sheriff explains the Department has recently joined a program through the government where they can acquire surplus and unused equipment. The great advantage the program serves the County is that the equipment comes at minimal cost. The only cost associated with the Humvees was shipping from a warehouse in Missouri.

Sheriff Shofner has already been in contact with several area emergency agencies about partnering with them for use of the Humvees. He hopes for the vehicles to be up and usable within a month or two.
