Clinton Warner Library Kicks Off Summer Reading Program

The Clinton Warner Library is getting ready for its annual Summer Reading Club.

Starting May 29, children finishing kindergarten through eighth grade will be able to sign up for the children's summer reading program. This year's theme is "Reading is so Delicious." According to librarian Paula Lopatic, students just need to come to the library to sign up.

The goal is for each student to read for 800 minutes over the course of the summer. A child can claim a prize after every 100 minutes. Prizes include a whoopie cushion, a rubber duck, a free eight inch Monicals pizza and a new paperback book.
Participants are also invited to join "Tasty Tales," a half hour reading program from 11 to 11:30 every Monday and Wednesday that counts towards their reading records. The Library will also have big programs at 2:15 every Thursday. Events include Science is so Delicious, Really Read-diculous, Family Time Water Show and Ice Cream Extravaganza.
Lopatic says that even though summer is a time for students to relax, they need to do a little bit of reading  everyday

This year, the library is expanding its program. Children who aren't old enough to participate in the summer reading club or who haven't finished kindergarten can participate in the preschool summer reading time on Tuesday mornings. Registration starts on May 29, and Lopatic asks that all children to be pre registered for the reading time so that they have enough supplies on hand.

The library is also having a teens and adults summer reading program, with registration starting on the same day. Librarian Bobbi Perryman explains that instead of minutes, the adult and teens program will go off how many books a person has read. For each book, a participants name is put in to win a gift certificate to a local restaurant.
