Republicans Challenge Quinn To Stick With Pension Reform

Illinois House Minority Leader Tom Cross sends a strong message to Governor Quinn when it comes to pension reform.

Cross says Speaker Michael Madigan has too much control over the reform process, but he urges Quinn not to let up.  He says the governor should keep them in session through the summer or until a compromise is reached.  The Speaker presented a proposal just hours before it hit the floor for debate yesterday, leaving Republicans very little time to analyze the bill.  The debate turned ugly after Democrats refused to remove a section which puts more of a financial burden on downstate and suburban schools.  Lawmakers have until the end of the day tomorrow to negotiate a fix for the 85-billion dollar pension liability.
