Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter will not return this season.  According to FOXSportsMidwest.com, the Cards have shut down the veteran right-hander for the year.  "Carp" was previously diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome and will undergo surgery due to the lingering nerve-related shoulder issues.  The 37-year-old was 11-and-9 with a 3.45 ERA last season and helped the Cardinals win the 2011 World Series.
