Sox, Cards Notes

>> Youkilis Won't Comment On Latest Valentine Barb

Chicago White Sox third baseman Kevin Youkilis won't comment on the latest criticism from Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine.

Valentine held Youkilis responsible for the rift between the two.

Before Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals, Youkilis said, "I'm over all the Boston thing of this year."

The Red Sox traded Youkilis on June 24 to the White Sox, where he entered Sunday hitting .316 with 15 RBIs in 15 games. The White Sox open a 3-game series Monday at Boston.

Valentine says Youkilis never got over an April 15 comment, when the manager said, "I don't think he's as physically or emotionally into the game as he has been in the past for some reason."

>>Youkilis Makes Return To Fenway With White Sox

(Boston, MA)  --  Longtime Boston fan favorite Kevin Youkilis will make his return to Fenway Park in his new colored socks on Monday.  The Chicago White Sox visit the Red Sox for the start of a four-game series in Boston.  The 33-year-old Youkilis was dealt to Chicago last month in exchange for Brent Lillibridge and Zach Stewart.  Youkilis played his first eight big-league seasons in Boston, hitting .287 with 133 home runs and 564 for the Red Sox.  Since joining the White Sox, the third baseman has batted .316 with three jacks and 15 RBI in just 15 games.

>>Cards Add Fuentes

(Cincinnati, OH)  --  The Cardinals have added the services of reliever Brian Fuentes to a minor league deal.  Fuentes was released by Oakland last week.  He is 2-and-2 with a 6.84 ERA this season.  Fuentes led the league with 48 saves in 2009.
