>> Two Cubs Minor Leaguers Suspended

Chicago Cubs right-handers Juancito De La Cruz and Antonio Encarnacion have been suspended 50 games each for violating baseball's minor league drug program.

The commissioner's office announced Wednesday that De La Cruz and Encarnacion both tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol.

Both players are on the roster of the Dominican Summer League Cubs and their suspensions are effective immediately.

>>MLB Announces First Competitive Balance Lottery

(New York, NY)  --  Major League Baseball announced the results of the first-ever Competitive Balance Lottery on Wednesday.  The lottery, which was agreed to as a part of the 2012-2016 Basic Agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association, gives clubs with the lowest revenues and in the smallest markets the opportunity to obtain extra picks.  The Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Arizona Diamondbacks, Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins will receive a draft pick following the first round of the First-Year Player Draft.  The San Diego Padres, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers will receive a pick after the second round.
