>>Cubs Acquire Germano From Red Sox

(Chicago, IL)  --  The Chicago Cubs acquired pitcher Justin Germano from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations Thursday.  Germano had his contract selected by the Red Sox on July 4th and made one appearance with the club, allowing no runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts over five-and-two-third innings.  The 29-year-old righty went 9-and-4 with a 2.40 ERA in 17 games with Triple-A Pawtucket this season.  To make room on the roster, Chicago designated pitcher Jairo Asencio for assignment.
