Cardinals Tame Cubs

A three-run first inning propelled the Cardinals to a 4-1 win over the Cubs.  Carlos Beltran and Yadier Molina each singled in a run before Lance Berkman hit an RBI ground out.  Matt Holliday homered in the third as St. Louis improved to just 2-and-5 since the All-Star break.  Kyle Lohse [[ low-sh ]] improved to 10-and-2 after dealing seven innings of one-run ball while Jason Motte notched his 21st save.  Ryan Dempster's run of 33 scoreless innings came to a close as he surrendered all four runs in six frames to take the loss.  Darwin Barney's sac-fly in the second gave Chicago its only run.  The Cubs had won five of their previous six.
