MLB: Cards Win; Cubs & Sox Idle

(St. Louis, MO) -- David Freese and Tony Cruz plated two runs apiece as the Cardinals cruised to a 7-4 win over the Dodgers. Jake Westbrook struck out six over seven innings of four-run ball to improve to 9-and-8 on the season. Jason Motte [[ Mott ]] fanned the side in the ninth to nail down his 22nd save. Matt Holliday clubbed a solo homer, and Allen Craig and Matt Carpenter also knocked in runs, as St. Louis took three-of-four from Los Angeles at Busch Stadium.

(Chicago, IL) -- The Chicago Cubs are back at the Friendly Confines this afternoon as they open up a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Travis Wood will toe the rubber against Lance Lynn in the opener. The Northsiders took two-of-three at Pittsburgh in their last series, but dropped Wednesday's finale to fall to 40-and-57 on the season.
