Cubs/Sox Deadline Notes

>>Cubs' Garza Out Until After Trade Deadline

(Chicago, IL)  --  Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza is being shut down until after next week's trade deadline.  The right-hander is suffering from cramping in his triceps, with an MRI revealing slight fluid buildup in the area.  Garza has been the subject of trade speculation, with the non-waiver trade deadline on Tuesday.  The 28-year-old is 5-and-7 with a 3.91 ERA this season.

>>White Sox Acquire Liriano From Twins

(Undated)  --  The Chicago White Sox bolstered their pitching staff on Saturday by adding Francisco Liriano via trade with the division-rival Minnesota Twins.  The 28-year-old left-hander is just 3-and-10 this season with a 5.31 ERA in 17 starts for Minnesota.  Liriano threw a no-hitter last season against his new team.  The Twins received infielder Eduardo Escobar and left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez as a part of the deal.
