The mustache is making a comeback - and Jeff Gordon believes he is, too.
The 4-time NASCAR champion grabbed the final spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship away from Kyle Busch with a vintage performance and will try to end his long "Drive for Five," starting Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway.
Gordon, once the dominant driver in the sport, hasn't claimed a series title since 2001. It's fair to say he's feeling just a little rejuvenated after his dramatic performance at Richmond last weekend.
Gordon came in trailing Busch by 12 points and beat him by three, coming on strong after falling a lap behind to finish second in a race hampered by rain.
Now that he's made the Chase, he is keeping his promise to bring back his mustache from his early days in the Sprint Cup Series.
