A Springfield man faces up to 250-years behind bars after being convicted of two counts of attempted murder for trying to shoot police officers. A judge handed down the guilty verdict for Jesus Ramirez yesterday, but defense attorney Sam Adam Jr. says they're appealing.

Springfield Police Sergeant Christopher Russell was one of the officers Ramirez tried to shoot, and he believes justice was served.

The courtroom was virtually silent as Sangamon County Judge Pat Kelley read the verdict, aside from a couple of people in the audience softly weeping as Ramirez sat in his chair, mainly stone faced. Adam says it's hard for jurors to watch his client point a gun at officers on tape, while those officers are sitting in the courtroom, and reach a not guilty verdict. Ramirez's sentencing date is set for November 13th.
