USDA Changes Report Release Times

USDA has changed its release time for several major USDA statistical reports.

Starting January of 2013 - the National Ag Statistics Service and World Agricultural Outlook board will issue reports at 11:00 a.m. Central Time. Alan Brugler with Brugler Marketing and Management says the agency claims the shift will result in more liquidity - less volatility in regards to report reaction - and the greatest access to the report among all interested parties.

Brugler questions why USDA chose to continue to release the reports during the trading session. While he is disappointed in the move - he doesn’t see a major market impact with the change.

The current USDA release time of 7:30 a.m. Central will remain in effect until January 1st. The time for livestock reports currently released at 3:00 p.m. will not change.
