Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 23, revealed that a vehicle driven by Phillip Solgard, 32, Danville, was traveling westbound on County Highway 11 approaching the curves near the residence at 6080 Rowell Road. Solgard failed to negotiate the curve correctly and left the roadway on the south side of County Highway 11. Once he left the roadway, the rear of the vehicle struck a culvert as it ramped off a farm entrance, the vehicle became stuck and a passenger of the vehicle was getting the vehicle out of the ditch. Solgard’s vehicle sustained major damage. The rear driver’s side wheel and rim were missing, the rear bumper was ripped off and both rear quarter panels, the rear driver’s side door and much of the undercarriage received damage from the accident. Solgard was issued citations for Driving Under Influence, Failure to Reduce Speed and Improper Lane Usage. Solgard posted the necessary bond and was released.

Investigation into the scene of an accident which occurred at approximately 7:26 a.m. on Monday, September 17, revealed that a vehicle driven by Mark Chen, 24, Decatur, was northbound on US Route 51 driving in the left hand lane of traffic. Due to dense fog, Chen did not see a semi tractor and trailer stopped at the red traffic light at the intersection of Business Route 51 Clinton. The driver stated he swerved sharply to his right striking the rear of the semi trailer. It is unknown if the trailer sustained damage. Chen sustained excessive damage to the drivers side. It is believed the driver of the semi is unaware Chen’s vehicle struck his trailer as he drove off when the light changed.
