Peoria Shooting Victim Convicted In 1977 Death

A Peoria man found shot dead had been convicted for a 1977 beating death of a Bradley University professor.

54-year-old Michael Robinson was pronounced dead with a gunshot wound to the head Wednesday on the back porch of a residence. Authorities say three suspects shot Robinson and another man. Police say the second man was shot in the eye and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Robinson had been on parole since 2007 after he was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the death of religion professor Domenico Volturno. Volturno died in July 1977, a week after he was beaten with a pipe over $10.
