Cubs Swept; Sox Fall Two Back

(Chicago, IL)  --  Evan Longoria lifted a solo shot in the top of the ninth to give the Rays a 3-2 win over the White Sox.  Luke Scott also had a solo homer for Tampa Bay, which is now two games behind the Athletics for the second AL Wild Card spot.  Joel Peralta picked up the win while Fernando Rodney earned his 46th save.  Dayan Viciedo knocked in the lone run for Chicago, which is now two games back of Detroit in the AL Central.  Brett Myers suffered the loss in relief.

>>Rockies Sweep Cubs

(Denver, CO)  --  Jordan Pacheco popped a three-run homer and DJ LeMahieu added a two-run blast as the Rockies clipped the Cubs, 7-5.  Chris Nelson and Matt McBride each had an RBI as Colorado swept the three-game set at Coors Field.  The Rockies have won four in-a-row on the heels of a nine-game slide.  Jhoulys Chacin allowed three runs in five innings to get the win and Rafael Betancourt recorded his 31st save.  Anthony Rizzo clubbed a solo homer and drove in two for Chicago.  Chris Volstad lasted just three innings after giving up seven runs on 10 hits to take the loss.  The Cubs lost for the 56th time this season on the road, tying a franchise record set in 1956.
