Miller Park Zoo To Host Special Day In Conjunction With ISU Homecoming

Each year, the Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington teams up with Illinois State University for their Homecoming for a special event.

As part of Illinois State University’s Homecoming Celebration, Reggie Redbird will be at the Miller Park Zoo this Sunday. According to Jay Tetzloff, Superintendent of the Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington, Reggie Redbird Day is an opportunity for guests to learn about the diverse collection of birds that can be seen at the Zoo including the Bald Eagle, Green Aracari, Kookaburra, Burrowing Owl in addition to the 27 species of birds in the Tropical Rainforest exhibit.

Three-time Illinois State Alum Mike Lockett will also be on hand, telling animal-themed stories for children at the Rainforest Theatre. Tetzloff says it is a great partnership they have with ISU and he recognizes the importance of partnering with ISU and other partners to promote caring about nature.

The Miller Park Zoo staff will have some special things planned for the birds at the Zoo including a Bald Eagle feeding, and the Zoo’s Barn Owl and Screech Owls on display. The event again is this Sunday from 1:00pm - 3:00pm at the Miller Park Zoo in Bloomington.
