Clinton Golf and Football Teams Enjoy Successful Apple and Pork Weekend

width=The latest Apple and Pork Festival drew in a record crowd for Saturday. The Clinton High School Golf Team set up its annual kettle corn booth to raise funds for the program. Saturday morning started off with a bang and Coach Randy Workman said the line was so long it was difficult to get caught up.

Coach Workman said he never planned on opening a kettle corn stand at the Apple and Pork but when his wife needed money for her cheerleading program at the high school they took it over. Now that she no longer coaches the cheerleaders, the golf team and the football team co-op in running the booth.

Since the festival is so big, Workman says they will arrive with lots of supplies and by the end of the weekend, there will be little to no supplies left over for the next year. In the end, the golf and football program take the money earned from the booth, pay all of the bills and then split the money 50-50 so both programs can benefit equally.

With the record-breaking attendence this year, Coach Workman said they sold more popcorn than they have in years past. The proceeds from the festival go towards the JV golf program to develop younger and less experienced players into key golfers for future varsity teams.
