Peoria Teen Faces Up to 32 Years in Prison

Prosecutors in central Illinois say a Peoria teen faces up to 32 years in prison for stealing money, electronics and weapons to support his newborn son.

17-year-old James Sharp pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of armed robbery and 10 counts of residential burglary.

Assistant State's Attorney Brian FitzSimons says the two armed robberies occurred on Dec. 18. In each case, Sharp was in a car, stopped near the victim and demanded money before grabbing a wallet and fleeing.

The residential burglaries occurred in Bartonville in December, May and June. Authorities say Sharp admitted he robbed so many homes he forgot what he took from each. But FitzSimons says Sharp took mostly electronics and weapons to get money for his son.
