Cubs Broadcaster Brenly Leaving Cubs Next Season

width=Chicago Cubs broadcaster Bob Brenly says he won't return to the team next season.

WGN-TV and Brenly released a joint statement Wednesday announcing his departure from the Cubs. Brenly says he's looking for another baseball broadcasting position. Brenly leaves the team after eight years and a 101-game losing season.

Brenly first worked for WGN radio in 1990, spending time with Harry Caray for two seasons. The former catcher left Chicago to return to the field as bullpen coach for San Francisco. He eventually went to Arizona, where he served as Diamondbacks manager and led the team to a World Series championship in 2001.

Brenly says working in Chicago was 1 of the most enjoyable experiences of his career. WGN officials say they wish Brenly well.
