Former Illini Richmond Jailed In Waukegan

Authorities say former McDonald's All American and University of Illinois player Jereme Richmond has been arrested for allegedly violating his probation.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney James Newman said Thursday that Richmond tested positive for marijuana last month and failed to comply with a curfew imposed on him after the drug test.

The 20-year-old Richmond was jailed in Waukegan without bail by a Lake County judge pending further court action.

Richmond was sentenced in January to 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to unlawful use of a weapon. Police said he threatened to shoot a girlfriend during a 2011 incident.

After starring at Waukegan High School, Richmond played sparingly in one season at Illinois. He left early for the NBA draft but wasn't drafted.
