Giants Sweep Tigers For World Series Sweep; Sandoval MVP

(Detroit, MI)  --  The Giants captured their second World Series title in three years by knocking off the Tigers in 10 innings, 4-3.  Marco Scutaro [[ SCOO-tuh-roh ]] singled in the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the 10th to help the Giants complete a four-game sweep.  Brandon Belt smacked an RBI triple in the second and Buster Posey hit a two-run homer in the sixth.  Santiago Casilla was credited with the win.  Sergio Romo closed it out for his third save of the series.  Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval was named series MVP.  Miguel Cabrera belted a two-run homer in the third, but struck out looking to end the game.  Delmon Young tied the game with a solo blast in the sixth for Detroit, which scored only six runs the entire series.  Phil Coke took the loss.

(Detroit, MI)  --  San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval was named the Most Valuable Player of the World Series Sunday night.  In Game One, Sandoval became only the fourth player in MLB history to hit three homers in a single World Series game.  He joined Albert Pujols, Reggie Jackson and Babe Ruth.  Sandoval went 8-for-16 at the plate in the series.  The Giants completed a four-game sweep with a 4-3, 10-inning victory.  San Francisco captured the World Series title for the second time in three years and for the seventh time in franchise history.
