White Sox Agree To Two-Year Extension With Peavy

One big name pitcher is off the market before free agency even begins.  The White Sox have agreed to a two-year, 29-million-dollar extension with Jake Peavy.  The 31-year-old right-hander went 11-and-12 with a 3.37 ERA in 32 starts this year.  Chicago has also exercised the 9.5-million-dollar option on pitcher Gavin Floyd, while declining options on infielder Kevin Youkilis and pitcher Brett Myers.  The Sox still have exclusive negotiating rights with Youkilis and Myers through Friday.  Players can begin signing with new teams at 12:01 a.m. Eastern on Saturday.
